The Pat Hillman Safety Award.
Every year, facilities have the opportunity to win our highly competitive and prestigious safety award — named after the company matriarch and granddaughter of our founder. The winning facility (as determined by a panel of plant managers) earns a coveted trophy, $1,000 cash for each employee and a face-to-face dinner with JDH executives.
Our California team teamed up with the Tulare County Fire Department 🚒 for a rescue drill from an elevated catwalk. The goal was to give our team a look at how we prepare for real emergencies and to reinforce our first core value: We take care of one another because we value safety. 🦺
This exercise had been in the works for months, and the timing felt especially important after a nearby facility experienced a real elevated rescue following an employee fall. Mid-States Companies, our partner that builds many of our facilities, also joined the drill to observe and explore options for elevated anchor points that can support safer rescues in the future. ⛑️
The drill didn’t just help our team; it also gave the fire department a chance to test their capabilities in a real-world setting ✅. They walked away with new lessons that will help strengthen future responses in our community.
A huge thank you to Tulare County Fire and MMB for helping us put safety into action for our team and our community.🤝 ... See MoreSee Less

Proud to partner with BNSF Railway to serve one of the largest feed markets in the U.S. Our Stratford, Texas unit train receiver helps us unload railcars efficiently and maintain steady service to dairies, feedyards and hog producers across West Texas. Thanks to the Stratford team for setting the standard high, and to the BNSF for being a great partner to our customers and communities.Where markets “moooove” and grow, so does the need for freight transportation. As one of the largest feed markets in the U.S., West Texas relies on BNSF to serve those needs, and we’re feeding off our proven success there to grow with a major provider.
JDH specializes in providing feed, grain and other commodities to dairies, feedyards, other livestock producers and aquaculture businesses. A key asset in serving the region is a new $60 million state-of-the-art unit train receiver facility right next to our rail network in the heart of cattle country in Stratford, Texas.
Located north of Amarillo and on 500 acres with a double loop track, this BNSF-served facility is built to efficiently unload railcars and keep product flowing to local dairies, feedlots and hog producers. In a region with some 10 million head of livestock, speed and reliability matter, and this site delivers both. ... See MoreSee Less
